My animal's name is the Philippine duck. This duck is seen near areas with freshwater or saltwater and the Philippine duck status is vulnerable. “Their diet is fish, shrimps, insects, rice and young vegetation.”

They are vulnerable because there is a lot of hunting going around and the ducks are being targeted as their habitat is being drained. I chose this animal because I liked the color and detail of the feathers on the duck and also I haven't ever made a sculpture or clay piece of a duck so I wanted to try it out. What I enjoyed most about this project was applying the glaze on the duck because I think that it added the final touch and I like how it makes it look really shiny. The most challenging part of this project was painting it and trying to add all the different details on the duck. Especially the eye area I had to go in with a really small brush and trace out the mini details which was hard. I overcame this by just going really slowly and trying my best to match the details like the picture as close as possible. Because this animal is vulnerable, one way we can help prevent this from being an endangered animal is to spread awareness like we are in art class and try to reduce hunting these animals. Another way is to donate to an organization (if you can) that help all kinds of animals like National Geographic.
